How important to you is texting for developing relationships and connecting with people? Why?

Im not fond of using text to development relationship with people. People could say anything behind a keyboard i would rather have a face to face conversation or atleast be on the phone. I use texting for communication purposes though. If i dont feel like talking on the phone i would text or if i don have much to say i text.
